Planning events has always been a passion of mine, having previously worked in the events industry weddings, and engagements are my line of expertise. Earlier this month, I styled an engagement party for a good friend of mine Kristina and her fiancée Roberto.
Kristina and Roberto were childhood friends, growing up in different area’s yet they stayed connected throughout their teenage years. When Kristina moved to London for university, they reconnected and were inseparable ever since. Roberto is a gentleman of tradition, and asked Kristina’s father for his blessing before proposing.
Kristina hosted a large engagement party for 280 guests at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, with a simple and elegant theme, using the shades White, Gold, and Baby Pink.
For the reception centrepieces, I used two large Hydrangea flowers accompanied by gypsophila to add volume, a rectangular vase with scattered gold gems inside, and on the mirror base. Surrounding the centrepieces were 4 vanilla scented candles. Adding a DIY touch to the event, I covered half these candles with gold lace, and the other half were sprayed with gold glitter. Each table had gold sequence runners, and the chairs were dressed with champagne coloured organza bows, accompanied with a baby pink foam flower.
The head table was located on a stage, the couple had a love sofa, with a beautiful backdrop of fairy lights. Two floral arrangements were placed on both sides of the stage, as well as cylinder candle vases, and scattered white rose petals. To decorate their table, I created a mini version of the centrepieces using smaller vases, as well as scattered gems.
As a sweet treat for their guests, I designed a mini candy stand, filled with sugar almonds, chocolates, and candy matching the overall theme colour. Kristina also had a professional baker customise cupcakes which were placed on the stands. As I always say the cake is the main attraction, the couple had a beautiful 3 tier cake, with a customised topper.
Prior to the event the couple had a blessing ceremony at the church. I acquired an aisle runner that was white, with gold scattered confetti to match the couples theme, to further decorate the aisle on each side were cylinder candle vases, and scattered white rose petals. Two beautiful floral arrangements were placed on both sides of the couple as the ceremony took place.
I would like to personally thank Kristina & Roberto for using A Touch of White to decorate and organise their event, as well as wish them both a lifetime full of happiness.
