West London ethical Fashion designer Rita Akosua Colson unveiled her eagerly anticipated bridal collection to an audience of VIP’s, and press on the 24th of March at the RSA House. The launch was produced and hosted by a dear friend of mine Nova Reid – Director of Nu Bride and renowned wedding expert – as part of her Nu Bride Presents series; showcasing progressive brands with inclusive diversity at the core of their work. Sadly due to personal circumstances I could not attend this event, however my dear friend Nova filled me in with all the fascinating details
About the Collection
The Rita Colson 2017 Collection, is designed for the fashion forward bride celebrating the nostalgia of tradition whilst embracing creativity and style.
Creativity, artistry and attention to detail are at the forefront of Rita Colson’s designs. Every dress has been made to be, or have the feel of a ‘one of a kind’ piece.
My debut collection is inspired by my love of bold silhouettes, vintage, and playful textures. A collection that celebrates the craftsmanship of intricate beading, applique of 3D flowers over lace cleverly styled and put together”
The collection is designed with the independent woman in mind, who enjoys investing in classic pieces and always opts for style and what suits her body and not necessarily what’s ‘trending.”
The Rita Colson 2017 Bridal Collection is available directly from Rita Colson as both a made-to-measure and customisable semi-bespoke service. In addition Rita offers a fully bespoke service, from her West London base.

Guests were treated to a vibrant, creative and inclusive catwalk show that cleverly captured the essence of Rita Colson’s 2017 collection; the juxtaposition of tradition with a modern twist. The popular collection, accessorised by Kelly Spence and Charlotte Mills Bridal, were beautifully showcased on an array of diverse models, to the elegant crescendo of sensational classical opera singer Abigail Broughton. This was complemented by contemporary dancer Jermaine Joseph’s powerful opening performance to Casta Diva. The fusion of live music and dance visibly moved guests and included opera classics Summertime and Mio Babbino Caro, cleverly encapsulating Rita’s love for art, music, dance and creativity.
The Tavern Room at RSA House was the perfect backdrop for the launch and was transformed into a stunning catwalk space with a beautiful white palette, put together by a fantastic team of UK wedding industry suppliers, including Matt Maurice Events, Over The Top Rentals, HK Hair Artistt, Joyce Connor Make up, De Winton Paper Co, featuring show-stopping flowers by Miriam Faith Flowers. The event was captured by Fine Art photographer Cecelina Photography and Urban Cinematography.
